Happily Ever After?

“I’m Terence the Troll and I’m an outcast.”

“Hi Terence,” the group replies in harmony.

Terence looks at the path of cracks he has created on the granite floor. He keeps his eyes on his feet. Juliette the Mermaid is still convinced he wants to kidnap her. If Terence only glances at Belvedere the Gnome he runs away screaming and stands at the door until the end of the session as he can’t reach the handle.

“I’ve been rejected by my family,” Terence says. “I’ll never eat a human. Mum tells the others that I died at birth. I’m scared of going back, but I have to.”

“Thanks for sharing, Terence,” says Avira the Elf, fluttering above the microphone stand. “Who’s next?” How about you, Hendricus? It’s been a while.”

Hendricus the Unicorn shakes his head. He slowly walks over to the window. George the Dwarf starts hitting his thighs to the rhythm of the hooves. The rest of the group joins in. Juliette slaps her tail against the side of the bath. Terence stamps his feet completely out of tune. Both go straight through the floor. Everyone stops. Hendricus turns around and starts laughing.

“Ahem! I’ll go next,” Princess Genevieve says, as she wipes some water off her face with a silk handkerchief.

“Once upon a time…”

“Genevieve, how many times do I have to tell you? Start again,” Avira says.

“I’m Princess Genevieve and I’m an outcast.”

“Hi Genevieve,” the group replies.

“I didn’t want to marry the prince. When he tried to save me, the dragon burnt off all his blond locks. He just didn’t look right. I now realise I’ve made a mistake and will go back today.”

“Thanks for sharing, Genevieve. It’s time to say our goodbyes. Can I ask you all to take your potion in your right hand and drink it in one? Good luck everyone. Cheers!”

Terence opens his eyes. He still has his potion clutched in his hand.

Splash. Splash.

“I’m scared too.” Juliette holds out her hand. “We’ll do it together.”
